The document titled "Agreement for Creation of Heath-Newark-Licking County Port Authority" was signed 15 years ago today on May 18, 1995.
The document was signed by Chet Geller, Mayor of Heath; Frank Stare, Mayor of Newark, and all three Licking County Commissioners--Albert Ashbrook, Don Hill, and David Houser.
Here's some key parts:
"WHEREAS, the City of Heath, Ohio and the City of Newark, Ohio and the County of Licking, Ohio have determined that it is desirable and necessary that a port authority be created pursuant to the provisions of Section 4582.21 et seq. of the Ohio Revised Code by the combined action of the Cities and the County."
"The Creating Subdivisions, by their combined action evidenced by the execution of this Agreement, hereby create a port authority . . . which is hereby designated and shall be known as 'Heath-Newark-Licking County Port Authority.'"
Today, the Port Authority will celebrate its 15th birthday with a groundbreaking for one of its most signficant projects--building a new office and clean room building that will be the home to Goodrich and others.
