Social networking is misnamed. It truly is a business network.
Talking about finding a creative way to contract for a hard-to-specify design-build project, we talked about the need to find some counterpart group that has gone through this before. Why reinvent the wheel?
The name of a college in Northeast Ohio arose.
We thought, "Surely, we know someone from there or know someone who knows someone."
Sure enough. "We" did. We did because LinkedIn did. A friend of mine from the mid 1990's knew someone who was the key contact at that college.
By the end of the day, we had the best possible contact and my SVP is off and running.
Just one more anecodotal use of social networking for business.
