I use Facebook, but this would have never occurred to me.
My oldest daughter lost or had stolen (she claims the latter) a "wristlet" that contained her car keys, home key, jewelry, id cards, and other valuables.
She cancelled her debit card and filed a police report. Then, she read her Facebook messages.
Someone had found her wristlet in their front yard, a block or so away from where she lost it. They didn't find her phone number or anything else in this purse-like thing, but they found her on Facebook and sent her a messsage.
Yep, Facebook.
She recovered everything but a couple of jewelry items of sentimental value.
Goes to show you. Facebook's use by the younger generations is very different. Hard to ignore.
