U.S. exports hit $175.6 billion in April 2011 to achieve a monthly record.
The news was particularly good for manufacturing with more than 70% of that number from production of goods.
The Dept. of Commerce report added, "In the first four months of 2011, U.S. exports of manufacturing products increased by $56.9 billion (16.5 percent) to reach $401.4 billion up from $344.5 billion recorded in the first four months of 2010.
Still, less than 10% of our U.S. Gross Domestic Product (GDP) is from exports. So, there's room for more.
